YOU ASK ME
Dedicated to a friend

You ask me if the pain will stop?
You ask me for how long?
The terrible lonely longing
Echoes  a never-ending song.

It’s a yearning that never ceases
A love that can’t be still
An ache to greet our loved one
A cry forever shrill.

You must think of him as living
To have only gone away
To greet the One who loves us
And who took his pain away.

Place him in God’s keeping
For He gave His only son
And peace will fall upon you
Until He too, to you says ‘come’.

Just a simple veil divides us
From our loved ones over there
So think of him as living
And pray to him in prayer.
