CORK BOARD
Just a plain old piece of cork board
Framed in a coloured piece of pine
Hangs on walls of public markets
To catch your eyes and mine.
Many scraps of papers
Are pinned with hopes and dreams
Some to announce a sale
Or look for jobs it seems.
But often if you search there
You'll find that one stands out
A scribbled little note that says
'I may be down - not out.
'I need a house to live in
A home to rear my brood,
If you have any space available
I leave it up to you.'
Just a plain old piece of pine board
Yet it holds so many pleas
Pinned together with thumb tacks
Heartbroken, hopeful dreams.
